More Detrashing!

Holy productive day, Batman!

To start, I tackled this area at the side of the parking lot where the trees caught every piece of trash they could get their little twigs and brambles on. Felt like I hardly made a dent, but got bags 12, 13, and 14/52. Plus a rug, a pot, some boxes. Got down into the woods themselves to get at more trash. I’m terrified of ticks, but so far I’ve been lucky. Knock on wood! In 2018, I ended up with a tick burrowed on my tummy, and it was frankly a horrifying experience. Never again, please!

After I was finished trouncing through the woods and being shredded by thorns, I walked along this back section of trees and bushes past the parking lot, until I came all the way to the left end of that lot where the wind has a tendency to blow every single freaking piece of trash around the area this winter! Lose something off your back porch? It probably ended up here!

Holy crap, there was so much garbage! So I went inside, drank some water, grabbed more bags, and came back out to tackle that section.

Then something magical happened!

Two little girls showed up and asked if they could help me pick up trash! I was so freaking stoked! It made my whole day! I gave them a bag, then went and got more grabbers for them. They were having so much fun! Exclaiming about all the crazy things they were finding. One found the cushion off her back porch, and was pleased as punch about it! It reminded me of when my nieces used to love doing this.

They were so precious! They loved helping out, and they definitely added to the second haul, filling about three bags themselves! Plus grabbing lots of boxes! One of them had her mom get us more bags, and said I could use them when they left. It was the sweetest thing!!!! I’m so happy for those girls!

In the second haul, I got bags 15, 16, 17, and 18/52. Woohoo!

Oh, and I got my first sunburn of the year! Ha! Sipping in that sweet sweet vitamin D.

So without further ado, here are today’s hauls, and some before and afters. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start!
