An exercise in empathy
A thought for men to ponder
In hopes to garner sympathy
Or a brief moment of sonder
A woman is lost in the woods
And comes upon another
Is she safer where she’s stood
With a bear, or someone’s brother
A bear or man, that is the choice
A thought put forth to reason
Most all women with a voice
Choose the bear in any season
The bear will only eat you up
Or drive you from its babies
Really though, with any luck
It’ll bolt off through the daisies
A bear will never call you bitch
Or c*nt, or feminazi
It has no wish to make you twitch
Or break you cuz you’re “bossy”
A bear will never shoot up schools
Because it felt rejected
A bear will never lose its cool
And destroy everything that’s precious
A bear will never rape your corpse
Or shame you just for living
A bear could not be any worse
Than a spree killer just killing
A bear will never stalk your work
And poison folks against you
A bear won’t wear a freaky smirk
As it ruins your whole world view
It seems the choice is obvious
But some men just won’t hear it
An important thought to discuss
But they’d rather throw a shit fit
But now we know to stay away
From their flags so bright and red
We’ll take that wild bear any day
There’s far worse things than being dead.
