Poem Day Two: Happy Birthday, Mom

Happy birthday, mom,

As you travel down Death’s plane

You’d be sixty today

A thought so very strange

The world has changed so much

Since you went away

If you saw how it’s turned out

You would be in dismay

I hope your rest is peaceful

Untouched by horrid thoughts

I hope you feel no worries

Of life’s nefarious plots

I hope that you are happy

In whatever way you choose

I hope your spirit’s tranquil

And that you never feel the blues

Happy birthday, mom

You’re remembered every day

I can’t believe it’s fifteen years

Since you passed away
