I’m So Sorry

Apologies, dear reader, for what I am about to tell you.

I didn’t understand it at first. Not until it was too late. I’d see these sort of movements out of the corner of my vision. I blamed it on being too tired. But the movements didn’t stop when I got enough sleep, they just got stronger.

Sometimes I’d see a body, just briefly. When I turned my full attention to it, it was gone. But I could sense it, like something was there, watching me.

This continued.

The body started to linger in my vision, and as I stared at it in awe, it grinned back before slowly fading away.

Again, I made the mistake of assuming I was just tired. That my mind was playing tricks on me.

Dear reader, this is not the case. I know now that this thing is real. Were I to look to my side right this moment, I would see unnaturally slender hands with long blackened nails reaching out for me. If I was to look up, I would be looking aghast at a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. As I write this, I can hear its rattled breathing, like wind whistling through a cavern. Its breath smells of rotted flesh and makes it difficult even to breathe.

Dear reader, I never wanted it to come to this, but I fear I have offered you up as sacrifice. This creature will kill me, of that I am certain, but my death will be painless and quick. For through my words, another victim is drawn before me. This creature was passed to me through written word, and now I have done the same to you.

First, it will seem like movement from the corner of your vision, and you will shake your head and ignore it. But don’t be fooled. It is true horror, and I’ve led it to you.

Your only hope is to spread the word, and hope to be given a merciful end.

My apologies again, dear reader, but I had to do it. I am truly sorry for what I have brought upon you.
