The Spark

You can’t destroy the spark

Try as you might, and you’re doing your best
You can’t destroy our connections
Our kindness

Our wish to do right by our fellow humans

You can breed hatred and fear of otherness
But you will not destroy our love
Our compassion
Our years of knowing right from wrong

Your zombies do not scare us
We will not lay down for them
For you

We will continue to laugh behind your back
Scoff in your face
Twist a knife in your fragile ego until you explode

And we will cheer when your fall
Rejoice when you no longer draw breath

You can mix the signal all you want
Dehumanized, disorganize, and isolate

But you will not control us
You are not our king
We are not your serfs

We will never abide
We will always rise
There are so many more of us than there are of you

You are not immortal
Time counts down even for you

No matter how many of us you attempt to destroy
You will never succeed

How sad it must be
To know that truly
No one loves you for you
Without money grifted from the masses
You’re nothing

No friends
No love
No community

Just dollar signs

A sad little existence

I would pity you if you weren’t so toxic

And I tell you this
I have goodness in my life
Genuine love
I care for others
And they care for me

I would lay down my life to make the world better for my loved ones
For all living creatures

You would lay down my life to make the world a barren landscape of death

My life is full
My heart is full
I have passion, and you have fear

I have the spark
We all have the spark
And that terrifies you

I hope it keeps you up at night
I hope you fear retribution for your heinous actions
I hope you know that you cannot and will not stop us

Kill one, and many more will take their place
Your reign will end

Our spark is eternal.
